Understand your skill tree
Read your progress, find a missing foundation, and choose a useful next step.

Open your skill tree
From your signed-in learning home, open More, then Profile. Choose Your skill tree. Wait for your map to load before interpreting its levels or counts.
The tree describes skills and their connections. Your course’s learning path shows its lessons. Completing a lesson and reaching a skill level are different kinds of progress; the tree is not a percentage of course pages you have read.
Look at one skill
Use Find a skill or select a skill on the map. Its Overview explains your level and the skills it rests on. Broader subjects and units group several skills together, so select an individual skill for a closer look.
The three level names are Practised, Proficient and Mastered. Not started means the skill has no recorded practice yet. A locked skill has a prerequisite to work on first. Read the words in its details as well as the icon or colour.
Find a useful next step
Where Start here is shown, select the suggested skill to read why it is a useful place to begin. If a skill is locked or feels difficult, look under Rests on and open a foundation it depends on.
If you have a goal available in the map, use it to see which skills matter for that goal. Then return to your course’s learning path and choose an available lesson on the topic. The map helps you understand what needs attention; selecting a skill does not itself complete practice.
A review does not mean starting over
Your earned crown and what you currently retain tell different parts of the story. A cracked crown means your current memory has fallen below a level you reached before. The earned level stays yours; the signal helps you spot something to revisit.
Compare the two illustrative states below. The crown stays at level 2 while the amount retained changes. These are example values, not your results or a promise that one review produces a particular score.
- Earned level
- 2
- Retained now
- 76%
The ring shows what is retained now. The crown marks the level you earned.

If something looks missing
Check that you are using the intended account and looking at the right skill and goal. A loading or error message is not a zero score. If the tree fails to load, close it and open Your skill tree again.
Some details load separately. If mistakes or goals could not be read, that does not mean you have none. If the problem continues, tell support the skill name, the goal you selected, and the message you see. Never include your password or sign-in code.
